Metro – S4300
The Metro Valencia line 1, 3 and 5 trains are based on the 3900 series but changed from M-T-M to M-T-T-M for substantially improved benefits. The new 4300 series has the traction and power configuration and hence the same advantages as the three-car 3900 series. The new, more powerful motors provide enhanced benefits combined with new 32-bit control equipment (Agate). The vehicles have added power and higher acceleration of 1 m/s² compared with the 0.85 m/s2 of the 3900.
The new series has computerized network control in place of the PWM on the 3900; new traction equipment with IGBT semiconductors, with forced and self-ventilation to improve traction compared with the natural ventilation of the predecessor.
RS 232 monitoring on the 3900 series has been replaced by an FIP network with redundant monitoring to control vehicle functions. In addition, the 4300 has a monitoring unit for the pneumatic brakes, including rotating compressors in place of the devices used on the 3900.
The air-conditioning equipment is housed in a stainless steel container (instead of carbon steel) and the driver’s cab (no desk) offers superior visibility over the classic desk version. Controls and push buttons are all redundant on the new 4300 as is the new ATP replacing the standard on the 3900 and fitted to accept ATO and automated rail track scanning.
The new series is styled similarly to its predecessors but smarter and more aerodynamic. The glossy chassis surface lends the 4300 its own unique personality and emphasizes its advanced technological features.
Other new features are the video monitoring equipment with eight cameras in the passenger compartments for increased security and reduced vandalism; fire-warning facilities and improved sound insulation.
The 4300 has an integrated information system, automatic couplers, air conditioning in the driver and passenger compartments, multiple-traction options, black box, and radio transmission facilities.
