EURO 3000

This is a Bo'Bo' diesel-electric locomotive powered by a 2,390-kW engine supplied from EMD. It is designed for passenger haulage at a maximum speed of up to 200 km/h. This new model platform complies with all current EU regulations (emissions, noise, crash, fire, etc.). Available is also a freight version with a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

Transportation
The Vossloh Group's Transportation division is the largest manufacturer of diesel locomotives in Europe. Vossloh Locomotives in Kiel, Germany, and Vossloh Rail Vehicles in Valencia, Spain, are dedicated to the design and production of new and innovative products that provide sustainable solutions to growing international requirements.

EMD–Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc.
Throughout its long history, EMD (formerly known as the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors) has supplied over 58,000 EMD-powered locomotives worldwide. EMD engines are reputed to be the best locomotive engines in the world, consistently delivering superior reliability, durability, and low life-cycle costs. The extremely powerful and fuel-efficient engine that EMD supplies for the EURO 3000 is based on proven solutions for North American and European customers.

In line with all European standards
The EURO 3000 was designed by leading specialists in railway sector motive power–Vossloh and EMD. These two companies have already supplied hundreds of customers around the world with diesel locomotives that ensure a high degree of availability, optimum life-cycle cost and the added certainty of a ready supply of parts for the locomotive's service life. Their engineering naturally also complies with all European norms (for example: emissions, noise, crash, fire), is suitable for UIC-gauge lines and capable of running on all European railway networks.

Low operating costs, easy maintenance, and eco-friendly
Minimum maintenance and repair (M&R) costs due to:

  • modular design permitting easy assembly, disassembly and replacement of parts and components
  • amply dimensioned components with a long service life and low maintenance needs
  • maximum standardization of parts and maintenance procedures
  • easy access to components

As maintenance has been reduced to a few simple operations, the locomotives can be in service for long periods of time. Their fuel consumption is low also thanks to the highly efficient diesel engine and driveline as well as the optimized auxiliary systems.

Comfort and safety
In addition to its impressive set of technical features, the EURO 3000 provides optimum driving conditions in a spacious cab offering increased visibility. The cab is designed in accordance with the EM 12663, UIC 651 and DIN 5566 standards and includes state-of-the-art, European-style displays, instrumentation and control systems. It has its own, seperate air conditioning for an agreeable working climate.

Benefits
  • The fastest diesel-electric locomotive available on the European market
  • Cross-border capability as the locomotive can run independently of overhead power
  • Optional state-of-the-art telemetry system including GPS and GSM data transmission
  • Prepared for ETCS train control
  • Supply of parts for the locomotive's entire service life
  • Modular design
  • Two air-conditioned cabs
  • Maximum standardization of parts and maintenance procedures
