THE OPERATORS VBK and AVG OF THE CITY OF KARLSRUHE BUY 25 TRAM-TRAINS WITH AN OPTION FOR 50 FURTHER VEHICLES FROM VOSSLOH

Vossloh España, in consortium with Vossloh Kiepe, has been awarded the tender announced by the operator Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe (VBK) and Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG), the public transport company of the city of Karlsruhe, to supply 25 low floor Tram-Trains with an option for 50 additional vehicles.

The new Tram-Train from Vossloh, called Citylink NET 2012, is composed of three articulated vehicles, with a length of 37,2m, width 2,65 m and a capacity for 224 passengers, with a speed of 80 km/h.

The Bogies are equipped with pneumatic secondary suspension which provides superior dynamic characteristics as well as comfortable and smooth ride. The vehicles developed by Vossloh España are equipped with the modern traction systems of Vossloh Kiepe and are specially adapted to the needs and requirements of the city and the region of Karlsruhe, fulfilling all actual requirements in mobility. Delivery and operation of the first unit will take place at the end of 2013.

Similar urban passenger transport concepts are being successfully realized in joint efforts by Vossloh España and Vossloh Kiepe for the Spanish isle of Mallorca as well as for the Spanish provinces León and Gijón and the German city of Rostock.

Vossloh España is an expert in vehicle construction techniques according to European regulations. At the Technology Centre in Albuixech (Valencia), locomotives, passenger vehicles, metros and LRVs are designed and manufactured.
