The SNCF and Alstom receive the 100th locomotive in Vossloh España's factory

  • Vossloh España, in cooperation with Alstom, will deliver a further 75 locomotives to the SNCF as part of the framework of cooperation between the three organisations for the supply of 175 locomotives.

Today, Vossloh España held a symbolic event in its installations at Albuixech (Valencia) to deliver the 100th locomotive in the BB460000 series to the SNCF, the state company responsible for running French railways, thanks to the agreement it has with Alstom in France.

A delegation from the SNCF and Alstom travelled to Valencia to receive the most recent locomotive produced by the Albuixech factory in the BB460000 series, in an act which was attended by Alain Bullot, SNCF’s Director of Rolling Stock, Michel Serra, General Manager of Alstom Transport France, and Iñigo Parra, President of Vossloh España, who hosted the event.

In his speech, Iñigo Parra made a point of saying that his company was “proud to be able to take part in the development of the railway industry in France, thanks to the agreement we have with Alstom.”
During this act for the symbolic delivery of the locomotive, the SNCF and Alstom delegations took the opportunity to visit and become acquainted with Vossloh’s production centre in Albuixech, which covers some 200,000 square metres, where the company researches and develops the latest technologies in rolling stock, engineering, quality tests and checks on locomotives, bogies, trams, etc.

Alstom and Vossloh España signed an agreement in July 2004 to deliver 160 diesel locomotives in the BB460000 series to the French railways operator, which has since been expanded by a further 15. The locomotives which leave the Vossloh factory in Albuixech are characterised by their multi-purpose utility, using diesel-electric traction which allows a reduction in fuel consumption, the emission of contaminating gases and minimises the noise from the engines; they are also equipped with a highly comfortable, sound-proofed and air-conditioned driver’s cab.

Vossloh España has designed the locomotive and carries out the industrial manufacturing and assembly process, incorporating in the process the electrical power components and electronic monitoring components supplied by Alstom. The locomotives leave the Vossloh factory in Albuixech completely finished, and are transported to the SNCF installations in France, where they are put into service.
