History

In 1897, Talleres Devis was founded, the origin of today’s plant.

By 1929, now under the name of Construcciones Devis, the Valencian workshop had positioned itself in the front line of rolling stock manufacturers. The company´s achievements were notable in the field of wagon repairs and it entered a phase of industrial expansion that attracted nationwide attention.

The merger in 1947 with the Catalan company Material para ferrocarril y Construcciones gave rise to MACOSA (Material y Construcciones SA) and it was during this period that the company consolidated its reputation as a supplier of rolling stock.

In 1989 the multinational group known today as Alstom took control of the company and moved to the modern Albuixech, Valencia, plant in 1997.

Throughout this long period more than one thousand locomotives of all types–steam, diesel-electric, electric and shunting–as well as other items of rolling stock such as trams, metros, diesel and electric units, freight wagons and thousands of bogies, were shipped out to destinations throughout the world.

On March 31, 2005, Vossloh AG, one of the foremost players in rail technology sector completed its acquisition of the company, which was then renamed Vossloh España and which, because of its high level of technology and the experience of its team, has consolidated its leadership in the diesel-electric locomotive sector.
